Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-14-05  Knight13: Cool Attacks by Black.
Jan-26-11  OJC: The score of the ending is probably incorrect: 35. ...c5+ though still winning throws away a mate in 4 beginning with the obvious 35. ...QxN+. Pickard's book on Anderssen states the final move was 34. ...Rf3+. 35. ...c5+ seems careless considering white still has threat of mate in 1 on g7/g8.
Jan-26-11  Shams: 7.g3! and Black must be careful not to just be worse.
Feb-22-15  nestorparma: The final position, once Black missed Rxd3#, renders no forced mate for white nor black. White's king must leave alone Black's central pawns in order to survive. There is something wrong with the annotation. Was it a 1/2-1/2 game? White could've left Anderssen no other way out but continuous check by playing 29.Ng4. The chance instead of simplifying must've been too tempting against a player that felt at ease in the vortex of a tornado.
Mar-14-15  sneaky pete: The game score seems to be correct.

Schachzeitung, July 1848 (pages 280/281) also has (translated) <35.Kd4 c5+ 36.Ke5 Re8+ and wins>, suggesting a few more moves were played before White resigned. I'm curious about those moves. After 37.Kd6 .. Black has a draw at best.

"Adolph" Pickard tries to fool us with "34.Ke3 Rf3+ (35.Kd4 Qc4+ 36.Ke5 Re8+ 37.Qe7+ Rxe7#) 0-1", but that's not what happened.

dernier loup de T: Maybe after 35...c5+ 36. Ke5 Re8+? ( 36...Qxh2+ is better, still winning for Black), 37.Kd6 Qxh2+, and after 38.Ne5 it should be draw, White played 38. Re5?: then Black has still good chances to win the endgame after 38...Ng6! 39.Rg2 Re5 -+..
