Jun-08-15  Mating Net: Black has a mate in one on the way with 52...Qa4#.
Feb-10-17  Zenchess: <svbabu> I ran Stockfish 8 out to 40 ply. 45. a4 is White's best move, but it does not win. Instead, it draws because White's King is simply too exposed.

perfidious: It would have been logical for Schmidt to play 45.a4 and I wonder why he went another way.
Feb-10-17  Retireborn: <perfidious> Looks as if he wanted to take f7 and e6 but missed 45...Qb8, or missed that 47...Qxa2 would protect e6.

He could have still fought for the draw with 52.Qd2, but I suppose he was already mentally defeated - he'd lost to Alekhine twice and probably expected to lose again.

Dec-01-20  aliejin: 45 a4 draw
=0.00 45.a4 Qe5 46.Qh4+ Kg8 47.Qd8+ Kh7
