  1. German Championship 1938
Re discussion on Biographer Bistro 13 April 2020, this is a clone of the Game Collection of <Tabanus> here: Game Collection: German Championship 1938

This is for the purpose of redoing the crosstable so that the listing of the players is in Sonneborn-Berger order.

The 5th championship of Nazi Germany was a 16-player round robin held at the [[Kurhaus]] in Bad Oeynhausen, a town not far from Bielefeld and Hanover, with daily rounds from 24 July to 7 August 1938. The field consisted of the top seven players from the German Championship (1937) (Kieninger (the defending champion), Richter, Rellstab, Michel, Kranki, Schmitt, Reinhardt), six players from three regional "Zonen" tournaments (Kohler, Eisinger, Engels, Herrmann, Koch, Nowarra), and three masters from the recently annexed "Ostmark" (Austria) (Eliskases, Becker, Weil). Weil apparently being a late replacement for Ernst Gruenfeld. Time control: 2 hours for the first 36 moves, and then 1 more hour every 18 moves. Games were played at 9 am - 1 pm and 3-7 pm.

    Erich Eliskases won with 12.5/15.

The tournament book by Lachaga states that the 13th round game, Kranki vs Reinhardt, was won by Reinhardt, but the game score is missing. The newspapers have that the game was adjourned on 5 August and finished on Saturday 6 August.
