Zebra

- Aladdin's cave
These are just miscellaneous games that I liked, and will probably farm out to other collections in due course when I get more organized. A lot of them feature unusual openings or other curiosities.

| 62 games, 1851-2006 - Capablanca
I think the title of this one pretty much explains itself! I am normally drawn to more tactical players, but Capablanca's endgame play has a beauty all of its own. Many of the games feature in Irving Chernev's book, Capablancas's Best Chess Endgames.

| 8 games, 1913-1936 - Caro-Kann
A collection of theoretically important games in various lines of the Caro-Kann. I'm a novice in this opening, so just starting out.
|
| 4 games, 1985-2005 - Fighting the Queen's Gambit
A selection based mainly on the Semi-Slav, Cambridge Springs and similar, where black comes out fighting (which isn't to say that he necessarily wins...).
|
| 16 games, 1981-2005 - Having your way with Birds
The From Gambit is often claimed to be theoretically doubtful. These games are intended to illustrate the variety of Black's attacking chances (and not just against beginners who stumble into mate on the e1-h4 diagonal). They all feature the Lasker variation (...g5, ...g4), which these days seems all but universal.
|
| 13 games, 1892-2005 - Homage to Yugoslavia
Not a political point here, just recognition of the very strong chess traditions in the former Yugoslavia, 1918-1992. I particularly admire the attacking chess of players such as Ljubojevic and Velimirovic.
|
| 1 game, 1976 - KIA selection
Some theoretically important games in the KIA, mostly against the Sicilian or French.
|
| 5 games, 1941-1987 - King's Gambit
4 games, 1960-2000 - Pirc - Robatsch - Gurgenidze
1 game, 1996 - Sicilian beauties
Dedicated to the Open Sicilian, a collection of exciting and/or instructive games that show the beauty and depth of this opening from both sides.

| 22 games, 1910-2006
