  1. Fischer and Kasparov: the Patzers
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

Lowlights in the chess careers of Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov. Fischer was a petulant manchild, who left whenever things didnt go his way. Kasparov was the man who represented the human race against computers, AND FAILED!

I did not include their many losses against WC's. In fact much of the competition isn't even GM level. Everyone keeps saying these guys were pretty good, but looking at these games, I just do not see it. ;)

    101 games, 1955-2007

  2. GumboGambit's Selected Games
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

These caught my eye for various reasons, (memorable lines, puns, names etc). ♟️

    58 games, 1783-2018

  3. Ken Rogoff Chess Highlights
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

As we are from the same hometown, Ken Rogoff is one of my favorite Chess players. He left competitive Chess at an early stage and has had one of the most successful post-chess careers that anyone can think of. Think about it: whose life would you rather have, Rogoff or Bobby Fischer?

Unfortunately, instead of commemorating a true success story, his forum on this site has quickly devolved into the same political flamewar that can be found all across the internet, talk radio, pundit TV, etc.

I wanted to establish a place on this site to commemorate his chess career. Here are some of his most prominent games.

    74 games, 1968-2012

  4. Pirc/Lion/Czech Highlights
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

    Victories by Black playing Pirc versions (1.d6 2. Nf6). These would include Mainline/Modern (g6, Bg7), Lion (e5, Nd7), and Czech (c6), variations.

For the most part, the opposition is either GM-level or similar skill level to that of Black. Fischer, Karpov and Kasparov are among the victims. This is to show that the system can work even against strong competition.

    101 games, 1941-2014

  5. Torre Attack Highlights
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

Victories by White playing the Torre Attack against top competition. For the most part, the opposition is either GM-level or similar skill level to that of White.

    101 games, 1889-2013

  6. Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names [ECO=A,D,E]
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

Games featuring rare openings/variations with unusual names. Not included are the basic uncommon first moves (Ware Opening, St. George Defense, etc.)

Due to limitations, this Collection covers non-King's Pawn Openings. There is another Collection that covers KP Openings:

<Game Collection: Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names (ECO=B,C)>

And a third that includes the “Overflow” items that couldn’t fit into the first two Collections:

< Game Collection: Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names (Overflow)>

    101 games, 1845-2018

  7. Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names [ECO=B,C]
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

Due to limitations, this Collection cover King's Pawn Openings. There is another Collection that covers non KP Openings:

  8. Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names [Overflow]
    GumboGambit Original Collection:

Games featuring rare openings/variations with unusual names. Not included are the basic uncommon first moves (Ware Opening, St. George Defense, etc.).

Some items on this overflow list do not note the unusual name in the game header. In those cases, the Kibitz section should reference the details.

Due to limitations, this Collection covers overflow games that couldn’t fit in the first two Collections:

<Game Collection: Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names (ECO=A,D,E)>

<Game Collection: Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names (ECO=B,C)>
