This book is based on Purdys belief that he could teach chess players in 10 hours what they needed to know to get to a solid middlegame. This would free him to study middlegame tactics and endgames where the average players time is better spent. At about 1900, one would begin to study openings again. Thinkers Press updated Purdys magazine articles with some modern commentary by NM Wieck. They adjusted the 10 hours to 24 hours for inflation created Action Chess : Purdy's 24 hour opening repertoire

The books is mainly focused from the black side and from the practical side of playing solid chess without a ton of study. He presents the Tartakover Defense against D4 calling it the All Purpose system. It's played against everything except e4,the Stonewall and the Colle. D58
Queen's Gambit Declined, Tartakower (Makagonov-Bondarevsky) Syst (D58)He recommends the French against E4 with the immediate 3... dxe4 . (This avoids alot of e4 e5 theory) There is also a chapter with the Sicilian Dragon and from the White side a chapter on the Colle. ***
This collection is a work in process and where I can save time by linking to existing collections I will do it here.
