1975 World Junior chess championship
Compiled by gauer
--*--

under construction

Held at Tjentiste (one of the pgn headers mentions that the month(s) was August (see L Kokkinos vs J Mestel, 1975 for details) and the city (wa/i)s in the Yugoslav region).

Canadian Peter Nurmi competed in this event (presumably from his results at either Game Collection: 1974 Canadian (open) U-18 championship or the Game Collection: 1974 Canadian junior championship (does anyone know <which>, or was it also partially based on <Governor selection> within the zone, as it is today also done for some other Canadian events - ie reserve seats for Olympiad teams, etc) during years in which the Canadian zonal office was not yet qualifying or sending a lot of delegates to play internationally on other continents).

Did either of those 2 event qualifiers also select any other Canadians for the Game Collection: 1974 World Junior chess championship (perhaps to qualify, but possibly with or without funding) held after both of these events? It seems a bit odd that a player could qualify from one qualifier which would've been played <over a year before> this July-August event, without the zone choosing to allow other competitors a chance to qualify in the meantime.

Next: 1976-7 World Junior championship (held at Groningen, Netherlands during the Christmas and New year's break).
