FIRST and nobody can EVER take that away from me.

Sep-18-22  offramp: Men without hats.
Sep-18-22  goodevans: <offramp> That's genius! Moor of the same, please.
Sep-18-22  Czx: Men without hats--? "Safety Dance"?!
Sep-18-22  goodevans: <Czx> Actually a slightly older song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTL...
Sep-19-22  offramp: Play stopped today at 11:00:00 for 2 minutes.

The players stood in reverential silence, but they were allowed to ponder on the position.

Unfortunately, at 11:01:45, one of the players (wild horses will not drag it from us!) realised he had left a piece in <en prise> and ejaculated,

<GEET FARKS EEN BUMPS AN BOBS WI PANGS AN IS WEAZEN-PIPE!!>

Great roars of laughter shattered the reverential silence, which can be excused on such a tremendous occasion.

Sep-21-22  offramp:
<MISEN BY THE YAMSTEAD STAY>

The ill-fated Ilkley Chess Festival (2022) has been abandoned. There was no play after the opening ceremony; there was a colossal deluge (of water) which left the playing area totally keechad.

Play was possible on the next day if wearing boots, waders, jodhpurs, jeans, rubber wear, rainwear, wellies & leather jerkins. Smokers were required to use upside-down meerschaums.

But after a short period of play the arbiters decided to dispense with stumps owing to a howling gale. Then bad light and rain halted play for that day.

The final day started early at 10am, and play started normally, but was interrupted by a team of grousebeaters, employed to rouse the players from their tables to observe the compulsory 2 minute silence for Queen Elizabeth.

Then there followed the regrettable incident at 11:01:45, which has been described in detail. (See the report by User: offramp.)
After that enormity the festival was abandoned.

Gediminas Sarakauskas has been awarded the first prize mainly because he managed to play three games, and also he has the most foreign-sounding surname (he is some kind of Lithuanian).

Sep-21-22  Sally Simpson: Hi posoo,

<FIRST and nobody can EVER take that away from me.>

I've just put you ignore and now Offramp is first.
