Oct-29-07  slomarko: how do you mean unexpectingly? i was fully expecting it.
Oct-29-07  DCP23: <hovik2003: <Armenia holds Russia 2.0-2.0 despite first board loss of Danielian.>

Sorry to disappoint, but Russian women beat Armenia 2.5-1.5:

IM Danielian Elina 2458 - GM Kosteniuk Alexandra 2515 0-1

IM Mkrtchian Lilit 2402 - IM Kosintseva Nadezhda 2469 1/2

WGM Aginian Nelly 2261 - IM Kovalevskaya Ekaterina 2448 0-1

WIM Andriasian Siranush 2234 - IM Korbut Ekaterina 2443 1-0

Oct-29-07  hovik2003: <DCP23>
Russian women never disappointed me so far, but if you check the live broadcast third board score is draw, so Nelly blundered somewhere because up to move 100 it was flat draw.
Oct-29-07  slomarko: today poland really knocked azerbaijan good but there was an interesting moment on the 4th board

in this position asia erred badly with Qd7?? allowing checkmate in two Rf8 Kh7 Qh5 # however luckily white missed that and played Ra6 and the game ended in repetition very soon.

Oct-30-07  ChessNe1: <Karpova> thanks for the address!
Oct-30-07  Hot Logic: What about Russia's 0-4 washout against China in the women's team championship? Apart from that Alexandra, the Kosintseva sisters and whoever else the russian fed can drum up usually outclass any team they play against however.
Nov-01-07  Karpova: Important Round 5 board pairings:
http://www.chess-results.com/tnr833...

Rajlich - Kosintseva Tatiana

Skripchenko - Paehtz
Collas - Kachiani-G

Mamedjarova Zeinab - Danielian Elina

Houska - Peptan
Ciuksyte - Voicu Carmen

Stefanova - Kulovana

Nov-01-07  slomarko: russians will probably try to get the revenge for Goeteborg, hopefully they won't manage to do it.
Nov-01-07  Goran: Poland looks very stable, let's see how they do against Russia today
Nov-01-07  Karpova: Russia-Poland 2-2
Tatiana lost to Iweta
Nov-01-07  Riverbeast: I'm rooting for Bianca Muhren. And, oh yeah, the Netherlands too I guess.

Check out the cool escape she had against Gaponenko, in a dead lost rook endgame.

Nov-02-07  virginmind: romania beats england 2.5-1.5, which is a good thing. some brave girls we have.
Nov-03-07  Karpova: Poland-Georgia 2-2 (draws on all boards) while Russia leads 1-0 against Slovenia (the amazing Tatiana won against Krivec).
Nov-05-07  Raskolnikov: There is still too little kibitzing on this page. It wonders me a bit because the Polish and Russian teams fighting for the 1st place. I support the Russians girls but have to admit that the Polish girls are favourites IMHO.
Nov-05-07  Karpova: Armenia is clobbering Poland while the Russians beat the Netherlands (Korbut and Nadeshda won, Tatiana made a draw)
Nov-05-07  Karpova: Russia-Netherlands 3.5-0.5

Armenia-Poland 2-1 and Danelian has good winning chances against Socko so it looks like a sure win for Armenia and the sole lead for Russia.

Nov-05-07  Harvestman: Socko escaped with a draw with a nice stalemate trick.
Nov-05-07  weisyschwarz: Lilit Mkrtchian played extremely well. If only she could stay in the groove.
Nov-05-07  Resignation Trap: The neat stalemate mentioned by <Harvestman> was Monika Socko - Elina Danielian :

Nov-05-07  slomarko: yes Monika set a nice trap and Danielian just fell for it...
Nov-06-07  virginmind: once again congratulations for the romanian girls, now on place seven, not bad at all!...
Nov-06-07  slomarko: final standings will be like this:

1.Russia
2.Poland
3.Armenia

Nov-06-07  Mameluk: Great tournament for Poland, Armenia and mother Kosteniuk.

Katerina Nemcova rated 2255 had 7.5/9 with a 2548 performance. Not bad:)

Nov-06-07  Karpova: Kosteniuk and both Kosintsevas scored 5.5/8

Nemcova is the top rating winner with + 48.6

Nov-07-07  Riverbeast: Russia the champions of Europe - but the Chinese women still own them!
