Jul-31-06  mack: Already ahead of you: K Noren vs S Homa, 2002 is already in the collection.

I really need to tidy up a lot of the entries, actually. Thanks for reminding me.

WannaBe: <mack> Thanks, I did not know that you already had it in there. (Next time, I'll check the collection first. =)
Jul-31-06  mack: By the way, have you any games in the database? You're one of my most prominent members, it would be nice if I could make your name permanent in my collection...

WannaBe: <mack> ?! me?! games in the database here?? No. My level of play wouldn't qualify. =)
Aug-01-06  mack: Played in any simuls? They count...

WannaBe: <mack> yes, I played vs. Susan Polgar, it was 28 moves and resignation. (for me, not her. =) Too embarassed to submitted it. Very poor quality of play.
Aug-01-06  mack: <yes, I played vs. Susan Polgar, it was 28 moves and resignation.>

Fair enough, but two out of my three games on this site and terrible quality too, and I felt no shame in submitting them. Besides, there aren't nearly enough games between chessgames members in the database.

WannaBe: <phoneix> Okay, I'm curious about the game you played against Emory Tate in the Chicago Open, can you submit the PGN for that game?

I walked by the board, and the game seemed really interesting.

Jun-14-07  Phoenix: Just saw your post. OK! I sent it in, along with all my other Chicago catastrophes :-) I was pretty happy with all my games against the GM/IMs for the first 30 moves, but I took too much time getting there, thus wrecking all of them soon after.

WannaBe: Thank you for the PGN of your vs. E. Tate, personally, I hate to face the French Opening.
Jun-16-07  Goran: Maybe games from Las Vegas ISCC can be included? I guess Seth has them.
Jun-16-07  Phoenix: <boom Goran!> I would if I could, but WCN kept all the scoresheets (no carbon copies either, which is the norm in USCF rated tournaments). The games were 30 min games anyway, and most of the time were decided by mad time scrambles and therefore incomplete.

I do wish I had a score of my last game, I remember I quite liked it.

WannaBe: <Phoenix> It was great time in Chicago, an absolute joy to have met you, here's to a great 2008 for ya!
Jan-01-08  sallom89: is that u wannabe ?:O
Jan-01-08  Phoenix: And a prosperous new year to you, Wannabe!
Jan-02-08  Resignation Trap: Unfortunately, I left Michigan for Wyoming just before you became active in tournaments. Players like Kevin Noren , Kevin Czuhai and Benjamin Finegold regularly made hash of me, and I was one of their favorite, uh, "clients".

Somewhere, I saw a few games by you featuring Vadim Zvjaginsev 's 2.Na3 vs. the Sicilian in games against Alexander Shabalov and Bill Paschall . Could you please upload them and share your thoughts on these games with us?

Jan-17-08  Phoenix: Sorry for the late reply, <Resignation Trap>. The games have been sent in.

I had already known about Shabalov's predilection for 2.Na3 before I played him. I had even already tried it out myself in some internet blitz games. I got myself into a passive position early on, he gained space, I couldn't do anything about it, and then, in time trouble, I got splatted.

Then next round I was white, and 1.e4 c5 appeared on the board. Well, why not...I went 2.Na3 and later won (not a good game by either player, however).

Against Bill, I knew he played the Classical Sicilian and I had not done a lot of work on that opening. And since Na3 was 2-0 in my games so far...

So I quickly got into trouble, defended well, made a mistake, was losing, then he slipped up on the last two moves before the time control, and the game was drawn.

So 2.Na3 is fun and interesting, but shouldn't yield an advantage all by itself.

I've played the Kevin Duo many times over the years. Noren I beat when I was 14, and I have never won again, although that is partly because the rascal has gone into chess retirement again! Czuhai I have a +2=1 score against, which is a bit misleading because our games have always been very complex and I should have lost at least one of those.

Feb-18-08  square dance: <phoenix> just wanted to say ive been watching, appreciating and enjoying your commentary and analysis on playchess during morelia so far. i would've said hi there, but since my account expired im just a lowly guest.
