Feb-02-08  cade: Just won the Croatian Championship by a clear point. Must be the best result of his career.
Feb-09-08  pawnofdoom: I had never heard of him until he won this championsip, ahead of former Euro champ Zdenko
Nov-15-11  brankat: Zdenko is actually first name. The former European champion's last name is Kozul.
Jan-08-12  brankat: Happy Birthday GM Stevic!
Jan-09-12  PaulLovric: well done
Feb-02-13  Calar: Congrats to Stevic for winning national championship of 2013.

Games: CRO-ch 13th (2013)

Dec-08-13  waustad: He has started out 3-0 for Wolfsberg in the Austrian Bundesliga 1. Wolfsberg got into the top league after winning the Bundesliga 2 Mitte last year, where he went +7 =1 -1. He's playing board 2 behind Zdenko Kozul, though he has a slightly higher rating.

BTW, how does one pronounce his name? Is it something like Hir-VOY-a SHTEH-veech?

Penguincw: Congrats to 5th seed GM Hrvoje Stevic (2596) for still remaining perfect at the Bosna Open. He hasn't really faced any challenging opposition, but in R5, will face the other player still perfect - 3rd seed GM Zdenko Kozul (2620) with white.

Penguincw: Stevic would draw that game, and then beat FM Dusan Djoric with black. However, he then had to face 3 straight GMs, including seeds 2 and 4 with black, so drew all 3 games to finish with a solid 7/9 (+5,-0,=4).

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for 1st, as he finished in a 5-way tie for 1st (2nd overall), trailing only compatriot Kozul on tiebreaks (50.5-50).

Still, for his performance, he gains 9.6 rating points to move from 2596 to 2606, as he re-enters the 2600 club.

Jan-08-25  whiteshark: Happy Birthday GM Stevic !!

You are the only GM who's ever beaten me in a classical game. ;)
