Kibitzer's Corner
May-11-04  AgentRgent: Congratulations to Eugene for gaining his final GM Norm last month!
May-11-04  poktirity: Friend of yours?
May-11-04  AgentRgent: No, I just called him Eugene because it was shorter than Perelshteyn. ;-)
Jan-29-05  twinlens: Does anyone know what the repertoires are in Perelshteyn's forthcoming book with Alburt and Dzin? The blurb mentions the best-scoring defense as Black against 1.e4, so I guess that means the Sicilian. And since Perelshteyn is the only active player among the three, probably that means his fave Acc. Dragon (and prob. KID against d4). But that's all guesswork. Any inside info?

Joshka: Eugene will be Fred Wilson's guest this Tuesday on chess.fm! <AgentRgent> uhm Fred says he just missed getting the final norm at the WorldOpen. Maybe someone can verify? Anyone have a bio on this kid? Where is he from? Eastern Europe?

chancho: I saw him play Pat Sciacca, at the Mass Open some years back. He reached a Lucena position, and everyone watching knew Sciacca was dead lost, except Sciacca. I think he is Russian.

perfidious: Eugene is the son of Mikhail Perelshteyn, himself a strong master, though he didn't play much when I was last active.

In the last round of the 1996 New England Open, Eugene, who was Black, and I had a long battle which arose from a Saemisch King's Indian after the moves 6....c5 7.dxc5 dxc5 8.e5. All pieces but the four bishops were exchanged, and we twice had a curious position in which the bishops occupied the four central squares d4/d5/e4/e5. Unfortunately, my defence was less that stellar and I wound up losing.

May-02-07  ikalel: Eugene Perelshteyn is from Zhitomir, Ukraine; not Russia.

Lech Kulejewski: In 1992 or 93 Michael Perelshteyn , Eugenes Father, spent some nights in my home ( in Katowice, PL)...next year he came with His family- including young Genia...this kid outplayed me , of course, time after time....wonderful times, except the fact that they had to come back to Zheleznogorsk. All the best, Daddy & Son!!
