Berge Østenstad is a Norwegian chess International Grandmaster, who gained the International Master title in 1987, and the International Grandmaster title in 2003.

Østenstad scored 7.5/9 at the European Team Championship in Debrecen 1992.

Østenstad won the Norwegian Chess Championship in: 1984, 1990, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2003, 2004, and 2011. He played for Norway in the Chess Olympiads of 1984, 1990, and 2004.

He plays for Asker SK.

Mar-14-08  masterwojtek: As of 2005, Berge Østenstad has won more Norwegian Chess Championships than any other player, seven in total. He won in 1984, 1990, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2003, and 2004.
