Reynaldo Vera Gonzalez-Quevedo was awarded the GM title in 1988. He was Cuban champion in 1997 (=Amador Rodriguez Cespedes) and 2001, and represented Cuba in 10 Olympiads between 1980 and 2002, scoring an individual gold medal for board 3 at the 1998 Olympiad in Elista and an overall games results of +24 =36 -15 for a percentage of 56.0%. His tournament results include =3rd at Cienfuegos 1984, =1st at Varna 1986 and =4th at Portoroz 1987. He is also a FIDE Senior Trainer, and the coach of the Cuban team.

He is the author of <The Meran Semi-Slav> from the "Chess Explained" series published in 2007 by Gambit Publications Ltd and also of the book <Chess Explained: The Nimzo Indian> also published in 2007 by Gambit Publications.

  Peligroso Patzer: He is the author of <The Meran Semi-Slav> (©2007, tr. by Phil Adams) from the "Chess Explained" series published by Gambit Publications Ltd. (in which book his first name is spelt “Re<i>naldo”). According to the short bio on the back cover of tht book, Vera “has won the Cuban Championship on two occasions” (specific years not mentioned).
Dec-30-11  cro777: Cuban Grandmaster Reynaldo Vera Gonzalez-Quevedo is also the author of the book "Chess Explained: The Nimzo Indian" (his second book for Gambit Publications, 2007). Vera graduated from Havana University, and has written for many chess magazines, including New in Chess, Jaque and Peon de Rey.

He has won the Cuban Championship on two occasions (1997 and 2001) and was a member of the Cuban national team for more than two decades. He is also a FIDE Senior Trainer, and the coach of the Cuban team.
