Benzol: Does anyone know anything about this guy? I came across his name in one of Murray Chandler's columns and Chandler related that he was quite a strong Canadian player.
Apr-16-04  Resignation Trap: Nurmi represented Canada in the 1975 World Junior Championship. He also put in a respectable performance in the 1981 Canadian Closed Championship (this was also the Zonal Championship). According to contemporary accounts, Nurmi gave his more experienced opponents too much respect by agreeing to draws in superior positions. This was the year that Igor Ivanov was simply unstoppable.

Benzol: <Resignation Trap> Thanks very much for the info. I'll post the game from the Chandler article soon. Unfortunately it's a loss for Nurmi.
May-26-19  Scuvy: I have an old copy of a 1973 Chess Canada magazine with his picture on the front cover and the caption "Peter Nurmi: Canada's Next Grandmaster?"
