Stonehenge: A note on the 1973 USSR Cup games by User: Stepanov44 :

<Most bases consider that Aleksander Nikitin played in this tournament. - 365chess: https://www.365chess.com/game.php?g... - ChessTempo: https://old.chesstempo.com/gamedb/g... - your base: Y M Nikitin vs Gipslis, 1973 Y M Nikitin vs Gipslis, 1973 Gipslis vs Y M Nikitin, 1973 RUSBASE has "Nikitin Y." in the table, but "Nikitin I" in the games. "64" (weekly supplement to newspaper "Soviet Sport" in Russian) (1973, num.45, p.2) wrote that I.Nikitin (Pavlodar) won the match with Chigogidze - 3:1. At last I have found an article (unfortunately in Russian): http://www.altynsarin.ru/articles/3... This article is mostly about Mikhail Mukhin but at the end there are a few paragraphs about some other players from Kazakhstan: Katalymov, Dzyuban, E.Vladimirov, master from Pavlodar Y.Nikitin and their participation in URS_Cup-1973. Y.Nikitin won Chigogidze 3:1 and then lost the match to Latvian grandmaster Gipslis 1.5:2.5. Yuri Mikhailovich Nikitin was from Kazakhstan, he lived in Pavlodar.>

Nov-15-22  stone free or die: <

<The <XXXI open championship of Kazakhstan>, which began on October 2 in Alma-Ata, aroused great interest . [...] The master from Pavlodar <Yu. Nikitin> was on the fourth place - 11 points. Just like V. Lyavdansky and E. Bukhman, <Yu. Nikitin> passed the tournament distance without defeat. Together with O. Dziuban, he received the right to participate in the USSR Cup. Interestingly, <Yu. Nikitin> was included in this tournament at the last moment, when the Tashkent master Ya. Ruderfer unexpectedly refused to participate in the championship. >

In November, competitions for the <USSR Cup were held in Tbilisi>. ... In the second meeting [round?] ... In the same round, <Yu. Nikitin> dropped out of further participation in the Competition, losing to the international grandmaster from Latvia A. Gipslis (1.5: 2.5).>
