Abel Edward Blackmar

A New York lawyer and judge. Blackmar graduated with a law degree from Columbia University in 1878, and was in private practice until 1908, when he was elected to the bench of the Supreme Court. He eventually became Chief Justice of the Brooklyn Division of the Federal Supreme Court, serving until retiring in 1922 at age 70
