Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-10-12  wordfunph: acidtest against 1st seed GM Ding Liren (2695) in the World Junior Chess Championship 2012.

Jul-27-13  waustad: He beat Alexander Fauland today in a 23 mover on board 2 at the Austrian championships. Here is an ephemeral link to the live games: http://www.members.aon.at/schach1/l...
Jul-28-13  Lingfield Grove: Peter has just won the 2013 Austrian championship. Well done!!
Jul-28-13  waustad: He beat Siegfried Baumeger in the final round and Georg Froewis held David Shengelia to a draw, so he won with 7.5/9. Fine job!
Nov-17-13  waustad: Congratulations on the GM norm at ETCC. He and Robert Kreisl both played well above their ratings.
Feb-24-14  waustad: Happy birthday to the Austrian Champion.
Dec-31-15  waustad: He scored 5.5/7, putting which was good enough for equal firstin the Donau Open this year. He came in second on the third tiebreak.
Feb-10-17  waustad: With 6 GMs playing, there is a chance for another norm for Schreiner and Diermair at the open in Lienz starting tomorrow.
Feb-14-17  waustad: Going into round 6 Schreiner hasn't played a GM yet, though he is a coleader with his opponent next round, IM Alexander Moskalenko. Between Simen Agdestein dropping out and a subpar performance by Marko Tratar, even if he keeps winning (he's at 4.5/5), he probably won't have played enough GMs for a norm. Such a perfrmance could take him over 2500 though.
Feb-22-17  waustad: Sadly, he had a few minutes at the end of a game against a higher rated player and slid back to a tpr quite close to his actual rating. He's been doing well so far in the International Chess Open Graz 2017. I'm just posting this here since it doesn't raise the notice of the folks on the site. There have been some surprises so far: http://chess-results.com/tnr234406.... For those interested in watching live, tomorrow is the day with 2 rounds so they'll be starting earlier.
Apr-24-17  waustad: Congratulations on achieving a second GM norm in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Apr-24-17  waustad: This was from 7.5/8, so possibly he'd need a third norm that is over 9 rounds. I'm not sure of the rules there. To get a norm here, he must have had a high enough tpr that even with a loss it would have been over 2600 (If I recall the rules correctly). I'm not lawyer enough to know if that means that is considered a 9 round norm.
