If I've computed the time right, these should start at 10 EDT for the next 2 days, 14:00 CET. The start time changes after that. They don't usually mention DST like in the US, with EDT as opposed to EST. That will be an issue for a couple of weeks in October most likely, but this should be over before that happens. |

There should be more of these matches.I would particularly like to see Nakamura vs Caruana (top two Americans). Ivanchuk vs Ponomariov (top two Ukrainians). Kramnik vs Karjakin (top two Russians). Wang hao vs Wang yue (top two Chinese). Anand vs Harikrishna (top two Indians). Anand vs Wang hao (top two Asians). If Russia hosts and gets the wildcard for the Candidates, holding an internal qualifier such as Svidler vs Morozevich, with the winner taking on Grischuk in a subsequent match would be fascinating to watch. Intrinsically chess is a one on one game. Before tournaments were invented, the traditional way chess masters settled the issue as to who was the stronger was to sit down and play a match. It was by beating Europe's best masters in matches that Morphy became recognized as the best player in the world, in a sense an unofficial world champion. |
