Aug-14-03  Cecil Brown: Olga Alexandrova.

There is an interesting interview with this young lady currently posted on the new Misha Interviews section at chesscafe.com.

Slightly surprisingly she takes a positive view of the recent sexing up of the womens game.

Aug-14-03  Larsker: Q: How do you like Alexandra Kosteniuk and Maria Manakova's attempts to bring attention to women's chess? They both claim to be chess sex-symbols, teenage and more mature style.

A: My position is: as long as it brings attention to the problems of our game, I support it. I don't understand attacks on Alexandra and her family - "How dare they!" etc. Better thank her! In the long run it should benefit all of us.

Jun-27-08  dx9293: I think Alexandrova is very beautiful, moreso than others who get greater hype. Everyone has different tastes, I guess.

<wanabe2000> I also think Karlovich should get more attention as far as "sex appeal" goes.

Dec-07-08  ruelas007: http://www.chessbase.de/nachrichten... here she looks simply amazing, i find it kinda surprising that not many people have spoken about this girl
Dec-03-09  hellopolgar: is this the person that shirov is dating?

<

You came to Khanty Mansiysk with a charming friend? Tell us about her.

[Here Alexey faltered – it was obvious that he was trying to find the correct words…] It is not easy to speak about a dear person. Olga's support is very important for me now. Almost priceless. I am very thankful to her for coming here! We are together for a short time, though we know each other for a longer period. After we met and I became more optimistic, in chess as well as in life.>

"I was 6 when my father taught me the rules. At age of 10 I already was a candidate master ... Once I had to show one of my games to Kasparov, and he harshly criticized every one of my moves. Finally, I could not bear it, cried bitterly and ran away!" (Alexandrova)

Alexandrova is now citizen of Spain (she acquired Spanish nationality in 2010). Olga lives in Barcelona and is married to GM Miguel Illescas.

Nov-21-12  cro777: The Magistral Grandes Maestras female tournament in Mexico, as part of the Gran Fiesta UNAM 2012, includes 18 titled players from 3 continents divided in 3 groups of 6 players during the qualification fase that just concluded.
