Troller: Interesting. Brunello takes the safe exit giving the pawn back with 6..Na5, after which Jonny plays the old main line 7.Nxe5. Some years back, there was some interest in 7.Be2, particularly as Kasparov has played it. But it might also have been (too) thoroughly analyzed by now.

Not content with this, Hector manages to sacrifice another pawn, and in the ensuing tactics it seems he has gotten a winning advantage.

Apr-07-12  SimonWebbsTiger: a bit of news that hasn't made the front pages elsewhere....

Jonny Hector gave a simultaneous display during the Danish Championship recently. He won all but one game for a score of 13.5-0.5

The person who drew is 11 year old Ellen Fredericia, some 1500 rating points lower than Hector and whom has only played chess for just over a year. What's more, she ought to have won her game too!

http://www.skak-dm.dk/index.php/nyh...

Ellen is the daughter of Danish Woman's FIDE Master Louise. Louise is a former 2 x Danish Women's Champion and has represented Denmark at the (Female) Chess Olympiads. Hopefully, young Ellen, after this great experience with Jonny - a very popular player in Denmark, will follow mum's footsteps.

HeMateMe: Kinda sounds like a movie star name.
May-10-12  Benjamin1981: A well-known swedish joke is that if you visit a prison, half the inmates will have names ending with -y. This is because there used to be (and to some extent is)a swedish subculture called raggare. The raggare ("raggarna") where the first swedish teenagers to adopt american popular culture, in the late fifties. And because of this they later named their sons with americanized names likes Jonny, Sonny, Larry and Ronny. And because the raggare of the fifties and sixties were known to be a violent bunch and usually didn't come from the best of social conditions, the joke goes that the prisons are now filled with people whose names end with -y. So while Jonny Hector might sound like a movie star to an anglophone ear, it really doesn't in swedish.
Oct-02-12  Volmac: I saw an old chess magazine once where the journalist thought that Jonny Hector was a typical Super Hero-name.
Oct-02-12  sagahelten: I've played against Hector in a simul twice. Both times I got an advantage, and both times I lost anyway. The second time he had finshed off everybody else in the chess club, and blitzing against a GM is not an easy task... :-) I love his playing style. And he is a very nice person and not aggressive at all outside the board!
Jul-07-14  dark.horse: Not to be confused with this Johnny Hector:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny...
Jul-25-14  Quercus: Cool game by Hector in this years swedish championships, with a positional queen sacrifice on the 12th move, where he caused the 2014 champion Daniel Semcecen his only loss in the tournament: http://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2014....
Feb-13-15  Karposian: I don't think there are many Grandmasters with a lower drawing percentage than Hector. His CG-database drawing percentage is 29.12%. That is extremely low for a GM.
Feb-13-15  waustad: <Quercus> You're right, that is a nice game. One issue I've run into trying to submit Swedish games is that you often run into non-ASCII characters in the png files. I an Email exchange with cg.com, I asked about this and they said they'd wait for someone to anglicize the files and post them. I guess it didn't happen.
Feb-13-15  lentil: ? Nowhere on this page do I see any indication that Hector has a title. Does he?
Feb-13-15  lentil: meaning OTC, of course.
Feb-13-15  Volmac: < lentil: meaning OTC, of course.> And what do you mean by OTC?
Feb-13-15  Karposian: <Volmac> I guess <lentil> meant OTB.

Anyway, Hector is both a GM and a GMC.

Feb-13-15  CountryGirl: Happy birthday, Jonny! Your rating may have descended, but I always enjoy your fearless games.
Feb-13-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, GM Jonny Hector.
Nov-24-17  thegoodanarchist: <Karposian: <Volmac> I guess <lentil> meant OTB.

Anyway, Hector is both a GM and a GMC.>

GMC is also a brand of truck.

Check It Out: After a brief google the actual correspondence GM title seems to be: ICCGM, though in the lists they are simply called GM, the Cadillac of chess titles.
