He played in the Portoroz Interzonal (1958), finishing 20th out of 21 players. He played for Colombia in the Olympiads at Amsterdam 1954, Moscow 1956, Munich 1958, Havana 1966, Siegen 1970, Skopje 1972 and Nice 1974.
