Nov-04-18  waustad: How did she qualify for the WWCC knockout?
Nov-04-18  sonia91: You already answered yourself in the WWC page, anyway for reference she qualified from the Oceania zonal (FIDE zone 3.6) women's tournament, as reported by FIDE's list of participants: http://fide.com/component/content/a...

Chessdom wrote an article on this tournament, held in 2017 in Auckland, NZ (cuncurrently with the 'men's' event, which qualified to the 2017 World Cup): http://www.chessdom.com/smirnov-and... It was won by Layla Timergazi, who presumably renounced to play in the Women's WC and therefore was replaced by Hardegen.
