Apr-16-06 | | Rocafella: What was wrong with him? |
Jan-12-07 | | danielpi: I'm watching his chessbase lecture on the endgame. This guy is incredible. I'm not quite sure if I'm laughing at him or laughing with him, but he is just hilarious. He's describing Philidor's Position, and he says something like, "...and after f6 you play..." and he looks dramatically into the camera and exclaims, "You remember?!" Then he looks distractedly away and mutters, "Of course..." |
Jan-12-07 | | danielpi: Oh, it's too hilarious. "You can't find sheks from the shelter, er, checks from che, uh, shelter from checks..." |
Feb-25-08 | | whiteshark: I wonder why he never made a commercial for <Mueller Milch>? |

Jun-06-11 | | Blunderdome: <danielpi>, I enjoyed his chessbase lectures too. I'll say I was laughing with him. |

Jan-11-12 | | timhortons: in his book secrets of pawn endings his name is spelled karsten <muller>, not mueller, even at playchess.com where he got monthly endgame show for subscribers<monthly end game magic show>, the site spell it muller, with 2 period over to top of u. |

Jan-11-12 | | Pyke: <timhortons: in his book secrets of pawn endings his name is spelled karsten <muller>, not mueller, even at playchess.com where he got monthly endgame show for subscribers<monthly end game magic show>, the site spell it muller, with 2 period over to top of u.> His name is definitely spelt with the german umlaut <>, or as you put it <Tim> an <u> with two <dots>. But it's also (phonetically) correct to spell it as <ue>. The main problem is, that there are in general problems while displaying an umlaut correctly. I believe it's sometimes the same with some accents and so forth. Therefore chessgames went for the phonetically correct <ue> instead. This works fine with me, since the name "sounds" right, although admittedly it looks a bit funny. For convienience' sake, other chess pages may have choosen to use the simple <u> without dots. Which looks better, but is phonetically inferior. Another example of this would be "infamous": Friedrich Saemisch Here it's actually an <a> with two <dots>. |
Jan-11-12 | | Pyke: Hehe, here's an example, I've just reposted the above message in order to correct some spelling mistake. And look what that did to the umlaut in the first sentence. It's easy to see, that it's a lot easier to just us a <ue> instead. |
Jan-11-12 | | timhortons: thanks for clarification pyke.
i just ask about it after i checked his name in our databse and i cant find it with muller. |

Sep-12-12 | | Conrad93: I just got his biographical chess book on Bobby Fischer. An amazing work. |
Sep-12-12
 | | HeMateMe: So much has been written about Fischer--what do you feel he has added, to make one buy the book? Improved analysis of games, relying more on computers? Just curious. I remember seeing that book for sale, didn't get it. I do have the large endgame manual he put out, which is very good. |
Sep-13-12 | | Conrad93: It's a very good biography on Fischer with great notation. It does not just flood you with a wave of variations, but actually explains the game, and gives you the specific details of the match. For example it tells you the politics and history of the game being played. Overall, it's just a nice book, and the fact that it has many of his games is a plus. |
Nov-25-13 | | whiteshark: Belated happy birthday, Dr. Mueller!
D Abel vs K Mueller, 2013 must have been the icing on the cake. |
Apr-10-14 | | Mating Net: Whenever I play an endgame, I hear Dr. Karsten Mueller admonishing me to "activate the Rook." His endgame literature really is top notch. |
