Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-02-05  aw1988: White wins in the Keres attack, not with this wimpy Be2.
Oct-12-05  Averageguy: It's not bad, white simply aims to get a strong classical position before going for an all-out attack on blacs king.
Feb-04-06  chess55: i hope i will do the Roy Lopez someday.
Feb-04-06  aw1988: Well, it was more or less a joke when I said it, though this isn't obvious. People whine and complain when the Keres isn't played, but this is not terrible.
Jul-10-12  Robin01: Can this opening be played without the move ...a6 by black? Can anyone suggest a good book on the line without ...a6? Thanks.
Jul-10-12  Shams: <Robin01> I can't point you to any good books, but here's a nice game from Uncle Viktor where he omits ...a6 in this line: R Fuchs vs Korchnoi, 1965

Try <parisattack>'s forum, he knows every chess book ever printed.

Jul-12-12  Robin01: <Shams>Thanks.
Nov-01-15  zanzibar: Has anybody a game with the TN 12.f5 in this line:

Scheveningen, Classical, 7.O-O Nbd7 8.f4

click for larger view

with the continuation

<8...b5 9.Bf3 Bb7 10.e5 Bxf3 11.Nxf3 Ng4>

click for larger view

and now the TN 12.f5

It leads to some exciting chess (imo). And is much more of an attempt to challenge Black's aggressive play in kind than 12.Qe1 or even 12.exd6. The idea is to expose Black's king in the center, and catch the knight out of position on g4.

There's 27 games in <MillBase> which match, none of which play 12.f5.

Nov-01-15  zanzibar: Here's another game w/o ...a6

M Stean vs Hartston, 1975
