Dec-20-15  Marmot PFL: Why not 30 Nd6?
Dec-21-15  Nerwal: <Why not 30 Nd6?> As Svidler said, White likely calculated 30. ♘d6 ♗xg2 31. ♘xe8 ♗f3 32. ♘xf6+ ♗xf6 and decided it was unpleasant for White, which is probably quite true; even if Black drops the a5 pawn, the b3 pawn is so weak without a light squared bishop that Black can probably slowly improve the position using the bishop pair and ultimately tie White down. Maybe White also overlooked or miscalculated 31... ♗xh4.

I don't like 27. ♕c5 at all although it's objectively not bad. Against an opponent of equal strength White may have tried something less forceful but more principled like 27. f3 or 27. ♗f1.

Dec-21-15  Ulhumbrus: An alternative to 10 Qe2 is 10 a4
