Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-09-13  Calar: Quite an upset.

It seems Fressinent's way of handling White's opening setup (2...Nc6 + 3...Bg4) is gaining more and more advocates.

And you'd expect 2700 rated Bacrot to see tactical tricks such as 10...Nd4 (if 11.Qxd7 Ne2+)

perfidious: The explanation for White's oversight at move ten, a type which I have also seen committed by a 2300 player vs an IM in an Exchange French, is that Nathalie Bacrot, not Etienne, was White.

  Dionysius1: But surely the black knight is trapped after 12 Kh1 Rxd7 13 Be3 and 14 Re1

  perfidious: <Dionysius1>: After your suggestion of 12.Kh1 Rxd7 13.Be3, Black can play 13....d4 anyway: 14.Bxd4 Nxd4 15.cxd4 Bxb4 or 14.cxd4 Bxb4 both look very good for her.

  Dionysius1: True enough!
Jun-11-13  JohnBoy: Spassky fell for the same trap, move 20, in the '72 championship match:

Fischer vs Spassky, 1972
