An Englishman: Good Evening: The Black Knight on d2 looked like a hen that wandered into a Fox house.

al wazir: Why didn't white just play 29. Be3 and put that poor ♘ out of its misery?
Apr-03-16  morfishine: This laborious game felt like it was 90 moves

perfidious: <morf> For a game played by Black which actually was even longer than that, see Fischer vs H Matthai, 1956.
Apr-03-16  RandomVisitor: The "hen" can escape with the clever 30...Nc4
Apr-03-16  RandomVisitor: <al wazir>29.Be3 Qb5 30.Bxd2 Qe2 and now things get complicated.

If 29.Be3 Qb5 30.Nc3 Qd3 31.Qxd3 Rxd3 32.Kf2 Nf1 only Tal will know how to proceed.

Apr-03-16  jith1207: Today's Quota: Remember that after the exchange it is still your move. " --- Locock

Today's GOTD: After the exchange it is still your move, BUT Remember to have tempo and the pieces safe with you.

I believe Nakamura (against Aronian?) also found himself in a similar situation in recent Candidates, when he started the exchange with Nxg3.

Apr-03-16  jith1207: <RandomVisitor> Will this help White if 30...Nc4?

31.Be7 Re8 33.bxc4 Any Queen Move or after Queen exchange, White Bishop escapes, having a piece up?

Apr-03-16  RandomVisitor: <jith1207>In that line, 33...Qa5 threatens the white rook on e1 and also blocks all white bishop retreat squares.

After 30...Nc4 there is

a) 31.Ba7 Qb7 32.Bc5 Qb5 with repetition

b) 31.Be7 <Rd7> 32.Bxf6 (32.bxc4 Qa5 33.Re2 Rxe7) Qa5 and now:

Apr-04-16  kevin86: Why did this game seem forever? White is a piece ahead and has two passed pawns.
