elohah: Notes...
9 !
9...?? We can see the processes behind this move. Black wants to play ...Ne4. Since that dumps a piece after Nxe4!, he protects his bishop, and then the RETAINED IMAGE makes him think that he has already played ...Ne4, and he intends to answer 10 g4! Qg6 11 Nh4 with 11...Nxd2!!!, getting his queen out of hock.
10 !
11 ?? But what's going on here? Is our hero exhausted??
'Yeah. Could an 'exhausted' Kramnik have found...'
After 11 Nh4! does he think that 11...Nxd4 is an answer? It isn't, and after 12 Qc4!, Black just dumps his face. And 11...Bxc3, with two knights for the Q, is worthless as well.
14 9 h3 and 10 g4 are nothing more than two expensively wasted tempos now. (ditto for 11 a3)
19 Yeah. This looks like a good place for the responsible annotator to draw the curtain.
34 ?? Except that Black's technique has been careless. There's no need to fear ...Ng3+ or ...Rxf1+ (or ...Nh4; Rc3 ) here, and 34 Qxb7! (that has been needlessly left open by Black) can be played.
