Aug-17-03  morphynoman2: Doesnt matter Alekhine, Reti or Spielmann played that. I dont like that king in the center of the board. It seems Morozevich thinks the same thing.

Benzol: Anyone checked out Korchnoi-Morozevich Biel 2003
Sep-27-03  totoma: I don't understand 7. ...Kxe7. What about 7. ...Qxe7?
Oct-07-03  zhentil: Qxe7 fails to Nb5

  Honza Cervenka: In the final position white threatens to play Qh7. If black would have tried to prevent it playing 20...Kg8, then 21.Nxf7 would have won immediately as 21...Kxf7 22.Qg6+ leads to a mate in few moves. 20...f5 fails for 21.exf6 e.p. Qxd6 22.Qh7 etc. After 20...Nc4 white can continue 21.Qh7 (21.Nxf7?! Qb6) 21...Nxd6 22.Qxg7+ Ke8 23.Qh8+ Ke7 24.Qf6+ Kf8 25.Qxh6+ Ke7 26.Qf6+ Kf8 27.exd6 Qxd6 28.Ng5 and the mate is unavoidable.
Oct-08-03  drukenknight: 20...Nc4? I was looking at 16...Nc4
Nov-22-03  drukenknight: another Morozovich w/ the h pawn, this one is more of an Albin-Chatard I think.
Aug-11-04  JohnBoy: zhentil - "fails" is too strong. There are plenty of games where black takes with the Q and gets very solid play. It is a planned X-sac.
Aug-18-04  tomh72000: <this one is more of an Albin-Chatard I think> Yes, the Alekhine-Chatard attack, pretty intersting in my opinion.
Jul-19-06  randytaylor2006: I agree with JohnBoy...if 7...Qxe7 8Nb5...Nb6 black loses nothing that I can see.
Jul-19-06  thom: <randytaylor2006> if 7..♕xe7 9.♘b5 (9..♘b6? 10.♘d6+ ♔f8 (10..♔d8 11.♕f3 ) 11.dxc5 ) 0-0 10.♘c7 cxd4 11.♘xa8 f6 12.♕xd4 ♘c6 13.♕d2 fxe5 The white knight is dead but white has easy game.
Jul-19-06  randytaylor2006: <thom> Thanks for pointing that out. For some reason I overlooked the pawn at e5. I stand corrected.
Sep-14-07  Karpova: Pelletier:

27...Rhd8?? (<unbelievable blunder! the position is equal after 17...Nxe5 (18.Na7 Nec4 19.Nxc8+ Rxc8 with excellent compensation or 18.Nxe5 Bxb5 19.Rc3 Nc4 20.Bxc4 dxc4 21.Rxc4 Rhd8)>)

Sep-14-07  euripides: In this database 7...Qxe7 scores +6-4=1 for Black. MCO cites

Bronstein vs Stahlberg, 1950

But 7...Ke7 also looks fine.

Sep-14-07  euripides: For an example of 7...Ke7 back in the mists of time, see

Euwe vs Reti, 1923

and Gypsy's note on it.

Nov-04-07  sallom89: i don't understand why he lost.
May-31-08  Xeroxx: Then its adequate to say that you are completely lost.
