Jul-05-04  rochade18: What a tragedy for the KG-players. Please keep these lines in secret, I want to win some more times with the King's Gambit!
Jul-05-04  square dance: isnt 5.h4 better than 5.g3? what about 6.gxf...is there any reason why that wouldnt work? how about 10.Nxf3 gxN 11.Qxf? wouldnt those two pawns be worth the knight on h4?

ray keene: belay that-i has mis-read the date as 1937-actually i see its 1973 when bobby had more or less retired!!
Jul-05-04  acirce: Yeah, surely 1973 must be wrong.
Jul-05-04  rochade18: <square dance> You are right! I'd also play h4 which is better.

My exclamation <What a tragedy for the KG-players. Please keep these lines in secret> was actually addressed to <bgitw> who attacks the King's Gambit with his game collection.

Jul-05-04  square dance: <rochade18> <square dance> <you are right!> yes, on occasion.

Apr-05-05  InspiredByMorphy: <square dance> <what about 6.gxf...is there any reason why that wouldnt work?> Yes. 6.gxf4 g4 7.Nd2 Qh4+ <how about 10.Nxf3 gxN 11.Qxf?> I think it would have given white more hope than what happened in the game.
Jan-22-12  Interbond: This game was played 23.december 1973 a couple of months before Alexander died.

I found this information in the book "Spiel mit gegen Grossmeister" Emil Gelenczei I have suggested this and many other games from the book for "Guess the move"

Jan-22-12  King Death: This is a weird looking line but I found another game in it from one of today's young greats: http://www.365chess.com/view_game.p...

perfidious: <ray keene: i am not a huge expert on the kg but isnt this the famous fischer defence....?>

This is a Becker (3....h6); ironically, it was a later game by Milner-Barry (M Yeo vs Milner-Barry, 1977) which inspired me to add it to my repertoire when I started answering 1.e4 with ....e5 in the mid-1980s.
