Honza Cervenka: This interesting game is a little bit spoilt by the fact that Lasa as well as Anderssen missed simple 15...Bxf2+.
Feb-14-06  Bobak Zahmat: <Honza Cervenko> Bxf2! looks indeed winning material for Black and White can not castle after that. So Anderssen got lucky.
Dec-09-11  asianwarrior: ,Hhonza Cervantes> and <Bobak Zahmat> Both of you are correctr but both players seem to have their sights on possinle sacrifice at h6 at that time they missed 15... Bf2+.

Penguincw: Some players back then had some what short, simple names (e.g. Paul Morphy). And some players had long, complicated ones (e.g. Lionel Adalbert Bagration Felix Kieseritsky).
Sep-05-14  Christoforus Polacco: Is it correct my idea: 26.... B:e4 27.R:f2 cb 28.cb Q:b3 (28.c3 Bc2) ? If 27.Rc3 cb - with good game for black.

Sally Simpson: Levy and O'Connell's ; 'Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games' date this game as 1863 (page 375) giving as a source the 1863 La Nouvelle Regence.

This needs confirming from a historic opening point of view because at the moment the move 5...Na5 is being credited on here to von der Lasa in 1846 but if this game is from 1863 the nod should go to Falkbeer in 1851.

https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che...

I hazard a reluctant guess it was 1846 because in 1863 5...Na5 is given a ! like it was a TN. Whereas in 1851 5...Na5 played by Falkbeer is skipped over. (Possibly an 1846 game published in 1863 without adding the 1846 date.)

Yes I am basing my stab on a missing ! and 'reluctantly' because I have dived into this book a few times and cannot recall an error, far from it, I know it does not have every game from 1485-1866 but it has been invaluable it tidying up a few things on here in the past.

Dec-20-23  Chessist: Published for the first time in "Schachzeitung" 1854, p. 180. The game is not found in either the first (1843) or second (1852) edition of Bilguer's (= van der Lasa's) "Handbuch des Schachspiels". Lasa published it in his "Leitfaden" (1857), p. 105, and the third edition of the "Handbuch" (1858). The game was apparently played during a visit by von der Lasa to Breslau/Wroclaw in July 1853 (briefly mentioned in "Schachzeitung" 1853, pp. 253 and 274/275). 5...Na5 was played more than once before 1851.
