Next year he'll be at masters group, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some invitations to other top events during this year. Jan-24-15    MarkFinan: As good as Wei Yi is ,that was his opponent playing pretty awful today. He always seems to castle queen side in these Sicilians though, at least the games I've seen. Jan-24-15    Penguincw: With Navara drawing today, Wei Yi is guaranteed to finish in a share of first place, at least. Tomorrow, Wei Yi faces Saleh while Navara faces the other David, David Klein (both podium finishers have black). I don't think finishing in sole or shared first makes a difference, but what if it does? Wei Yi might want to push for a win, but there's also the off chance of overpushing and losing. Then, Navara might win, and there's a tie. But again, Wei Yi will likely want to settle for a draw (but obviously win if he gets the chance) and perhaps try to join the 2700 club in the first few rounds at Gibraltar. He overperformed by 116 Elo points (2291 rating, 2407 TPR). When someone finishes a winless -6 and still gains a bunch of rating points, I think it's fair to say that they probably didn't belong. Yes I know he qualified via the amateur tourney.
