Dec-23-08 | | Augalv: <KKDEREK: Kramnik fanboys are bleeding! Nice year!!> We are not dude, Kramnik has won absolutely everything. Topalov hasn't, he lost the unified crown in Elista. Maybe you are are bleeding. <Theres nothing to discuss about him (of course..Hes DONE.)> LOL. He is not. Kramnik is taking a well deserved break, and will come back even stronger. Nice year to you too.

Dec-23-08 | | Augalv: <walker> you are funny. |
Dec-23-08 | | walker: <Augalv> Don't you see that the Russian are gone(almost). The WC is Indian. The number 1 is Bulgarian. The most promising younger players are Armenians, Azeri, Norwegian, Philipino...Artificially pumped Soviet school is in ruins. The last time when a Russian "won" the title it was the Elista sham. Vishy showed the world that the so called "champion" was just a pupped of ilumizhanov and the post-Communist mafia.
I don't see any Russians among the first 10 in the next decade.
Merry Christmas!

Dec-23-08 | | walker: I don't believe anyone takes seriously players like Dmitry Yakovenko or Alexander Grischuk? |
Dec-23-08 | | Augalv: LOL. You are still very funny <Walker> but Merry Christmas to you too! |
Dec-23-08 | | walker: What so funny about me? Don't you see the Russians are far beyond now. Merry Chrimas! |
Dec-23-08 | | walker: Sorry, I didn't mention the Ukrainians. Great players. Sergey Karjakin may be the next giant. |
Dec-23-08 | | Augalv: He will be the next giant! |
Dec-23-08 | | walker: I don't mind. I like him. And also --- Russians will be hurt the most if an Ukrainian(a nation that they almost destroyed) will take over the chess world. |
Dec-23-08 | | badest: <walker> It is amazing that Russia has not produced any new talents. You are seriously right in saying that there may not be a Russian in top 5 (I know you said top 10, but there will be a random Russian in the top 10 :) Kramnik, well, if he doesn't play maybe he'll stay in top 10 for a year or so... ;) |
Dec-23-08 | | karoaper: Congrats to Topalov. A very strong showing. It seems to me that he had arrived on the scene with a bag full of tricks and home preps. That's what it takes to be on top. |
Dec-23-08 | | walker: <badest > Not just in chess...Russian are going down in every area of live, art and science...Pitty, but they are now a Third World Country. Leke Nigeria or Uganda. |
Dec-24-08 | | karoaper: walker, I'm sorry to say this, but through your posts you leave the impression of a real bonehead. |
Dec-24-08 | | hovik2003: Aha I get it!, Pappa Bear is dead and passed away to the history for good, so now playful and unexperienced cubs are wasting up the zealously obtained and stashed full bowl of honey! |
Dec-24-08 | | bgkuzzy: <walker> You do have a point after all. |
Dec-24-08 | | walker: <karoaper: walker, I'm sorry to say this, but through your posts you leave the impression of a real bonehead.> I share the same view. Great minds think alike. Merry Christmas! |
Dec-24-08 | | walker: < badest > They still have a great one --- Moro |
Dec-24-08 | | karoaper: Merry Christmas walker. I'm certain that you are not what I characterized your posts to imply, and I'm sorry if I was a little harsh. |
Dec-24-08 | | badest: <walker> Agree - Moro is top 5 material. But he is not present at a lot of the big tournaments for whatever reasons... |
Dec-24-08 | | fromoort: Pearl Spring - good chess. Well excited Topalov by very excitement won! Good win-win by Bulgarian, but Ivanchuk sucked with Movsesian. |
Dec-28-08 | | whiteshark: Topalov went solely undefeated (+4 -0 =6) through this strong tournament. Very impressive! |
Dec-28-08 | | Udit Narayan: He did go undefeated, but he still encountered some problems in both games against Bu. |

Feb-02-09 | | Eyal: <Nanjing, China, will join the Grand Slam Chess Association in the 2009 season. The winner of the category 21 supertournament that was held from December 10 to 22, 2008, Veselin Topalov, will be retroactively seeded into the Grand Slam Final. The final is planned once again for Bilbao, Spain, next September. The news was announced at a press conference in Wijk aan Zee this afternoon. Making the announcement were representatives from the GSCA, Silvio Danailov, Juan Fernandez, and Jeroen van den Berg. "Now, with the inclusion of Asia, we think that the association of professional chess will be much more important," Danailov said, paraphrasing Juan Fernandez, who spoke in Spanish. The decision to retroactively qualify Topalov was reached by consensus of the GSCA organizers, in an effort to speed up the inclusion of China by making it the first tournament in the current season.> (https://webcast.chessclub.com/blog/...)<"Yes, we're the serious professional people who are organizing serious professional events in a serious professional way because FIDE isn't serious or professional. Oh, and we just retroactively awarded a Grand Slam final spot to the client of one of our directors."> (http://www.chessninja.com/dailydirt...) |
