I think the Azerbijan makes a decent chance to win a medal there.Rajdabov and Mamedyarov should score a lot of points on the first two boards and on board three and four we have Gashimov and Gusseinov as usual. If they get a decent score Azerbijan could well finish third of maybe even second. |

 | | Troller: Congratulations to Mamedjarov! It will be very interesting to follow him at the Team Championships, Khanty-Mansjysk, Tal Memorial and Wijk-an-Zee. Right now, it is difficult to see what his limits are, and he's got every chance to prove himself the next half year. |

Andriasian couldn't pull off a single draw nor win against these guys. I doubt Adly will be able to next year. |

| Oct-22-07 | | Riverbeast: Adly played some very enterprising chess in the World Junior Championships and beat several 2600+ players. I'm not sure he's weaker than Andriasian just because he's lower rated. I don't know what his score will be next year, but I expect tougher battles. The depressing thing for Andriasian is not so much that he went 0-6 but that all the games were drearily one-sided. You never felt like he had a chance to draw or win any one of those games. |

And does anyone know how they choose the other players who play here? I know they take the previous years Junior champion, but who else? <Riverbeast> Adly has an agressive style of play and attacks, leading to his few draws (or at least this year, he only has 3 draws out of 30 games in the database). But I think that this style of play will cause him to blunder against the stronger grandmasters, who will be able to exploit it well unlike many junior players. |
