Kibitzer's Corner

Sep-01-07  acirce: 28.Qh6 is hard to understand.
Sep-01-07  slomarko: <28.Qh6 is hard to understand.> why would 28.Qh6 be hard to understand? it looks a perfectly logic move to me. what would you have played?
Sep-01-07  percyblakeney: Looking better for Cheparinov after 34. Bf4, maybe it will be 1-0 after all.
Sep-01-07  acirce: Too bad, but finally Ljubojevic's time-trouble blunder came. But Karjakin has good winning chances too.
Sep-01-07  Mameluk: All oldies are typically going down in timetrouble.
Sep-01-07  acirce: <what would you have played?>

I would definitely be clueless in that position. Something pseudo-aggressive like Rd5 is a guess.

Sep-01-07  sitzkrieg: uhm what is karjakin doing?
Sep-01-07  slomarko: <uhm what is karjakin doing?> winning?
Sep-01-07  slomarko: <I would definitely be clueless in that position. Something pseudo-aggressive like Rd5 is a guess.> i think he didnt see any winning plan with his queen on g7 and decided to centralize it again. all in all a correct decision from my point of view.
Sep-01-07  cannibal: Ljubo rocks!!!!!!
Sep-01-07  sitzkrieg: ah karjakin is white..That makes a difference..:p
Sep-01-07  acirce: Amazing blunder, that 57.Qxb6???
Sep-01-07  supertimchan: Yeah, that was a terrible blunder.
Sep-01-07  suenteus po 147: Negi and Nikolic have drawn. That finishes up the last of the games. By my count it seems that once again "Youth" has toppled "Experience."

  lostemperor: Or how to beat your dad in chess again (;
Sep-01-07  acirce: And Karjakin gets the ticket to Melody Amber and breaks 2700. All good news.
Sep-01-07  slomarko: congratulation to Karjakin a well deserved win. i hope in future the organisers of major tourneys start to invite people like Karjakin and Cheparinov instead of Gelfand, Van Wely, Svilder etc...
Sep-01-07  achieve: Negi was unfortunate this tournament, he'll be back with a win here next year.. Stellwagen showed his potential.. Karjakin showed his technique.. Ljubo showed he can still play very good when inspired.. Yusupow wasn't stable as he used to be..

I like this format/idea - very good practice for the youngsters against a few of the game's finest.

Sep-01-07  amuralid: Congrats to Karjakin!
Sep-01-07  notyetagm: <acirce: Amazing blunder, that 57.Qxb6???>

In what game was this blunder?

Sep-01-07  Karpova: <notyetagm>
In Cheparinov-Ljubojevic (draw)
Sep-01-07  Mameluk: Karjakin plays very well this year and finally crosses 2700. I donĀ“t think he suffers from lack of invitations:) Jusupov surprised me in first half, but in the end it was good old Jusupov:)
Sep-01-07  notyetagm: <Mameluk: Karjakin plays very well this year and finally crosses 2700.>

Yes, Karjakin is smoking this year, an undefeated +3 at Foros followed by an undefeated +4 here at the NH tournament.

Karjakin is going to be a force to be reckoned with at the FIDE World Cup in November.

Does anyone know what Karjakin's next tournament is? Is he playing at the Tal Memorial?

Sep-01-07  percyblakeney: Nice to see Karjakin doing well, and after a couple of years around 2650-80 he seems to be ready to step up to 2700+.
Sep-04-07  mckmck: Negi is Total disappointment.
