Just a woodpusher coming back to the game after a long absence...and still floundering...

   Apr-21-22 Larsen vs R Byrne, 1973
BwanaVa: This game is not listed as one of Byrne's brilliancies, but it should be noted that this win gave him just enough room to stay ahead of Larsen, Smejkal, and Huebner for the third qualifier spot out of the Leningrad Interzonal.
Oct-22-21 Robson vs Fedorowicz, 2010 (replies)
BwanaVa: Fed peak rating-FIDE 2574 (1999), USCF 2672 (approx 1993).
   Oct-13-21 Petrosian vs Estrin, 1968
BwanaVa: I would note Spassky's full comment after the 1966 World Championship match: "It is to Petrosian's advantage that his opponents never know when he is suddenly going to play like Mikhail Tal."
   Aug-30-21 Xiong vs Caruana, 2021
BwanaVa: Also...not a Kings Indian Attack. Some type of reversed Gruenfeld, perhaps...
   Aug-18-21 Suttles vs R Cosulich, 1974
BwanaVa: After 22...e4xd3 23. c5 Nmoves 24 Bxb7 the Qside pawn roller will be too much to stop.
Aug-03-21 Beliavsky vs Nakamura, 2009 (replies)
BwanaVa: Regarding the discussion of the en passant rules on 10.30.2011 above and why En Passant is limited to pawns... En Passant was created when rules were changed to allow a Pawn to move two squares on its first move. Complaints were heard that this mean that a pawn on the opposing fifth
Jul-20-21 Myagmarsuren vs M Cuellar Gacharna, 1967 (replies)
BwanaVa: "A Mongolian". Just tossing in a Bobby Fischer call back...
   Jun-04-21 S Joksic vs K Commons, 1975 (replies)
BwanaVa: Cheapo by the Dozen-Amen. I remember back in the day-perhaps this tournament was part of it-when Commons went overseas to play at a time few Americans were doing it and tore through three tournaments or so to earn his IM.
   May-07-21 Keene vs R Eggmann, 1965 (replies)
BwanaVa: I would say the opening is a Reti, or a Neo -Grunfeld, or perhaps even an English.
   May-03-21 Kasparov vs V Chuchelov, 2003 (replies)
BwanaVa: "KingG: Games like this make me wish Kasparov had played more 2600 players in his career rather than just the very top guys." Interestingly enough, a Fischer Boom friend of mine made the same comment about Petrosian...he feels that the very top players just deal with certain risks, ...
