matein8: <square dance> Ok fine, I'll accept your argument that Kramnik was never WC. That's my last on the subject.

matein8: <drukenknight> I have it on CD and my opinion is that it's excellent.

matein8: I believe 33.Qh7+ also works.

   Jun-09-04 K Hamppe vs Steinitz, 1859 (replies)

matein8: <jrsoohoo> This site ( http://www.geocities.com/aiccf/aug0... ) says: "Chess Miniature is commonly accepted as a game that is won in 25 moves or less. Soltis uses the standard of 20 moves or less. Chernev says that 24 moves is the limit. But this is not a universally accepted ...

matein8: <awfulhangover> Thanks for posting the link. I don't understand Norwegian but I enjoyed the clips, nonetheless. The quality of the news video is very impressive.

matein8: I agree with DrStrangelove; Ponomariov would not have all the problems he has now if he had simply played Kasparov last year. I also like the idea of a supertournament to decide the WC. It would be much better than the farce that is going on now.

matein8: If I was helpful to anyone, I'm glad. These puzzles are here to be enjoyed by people of varying levels of skills and I think it's stupid for anyone to set up benchmarks on them.

matein8: <Phoenix> My guess is that it's all part of Libya trying to clean up its international image. FIDE is not very organized; it offered the bid for the tourney only a few months ago. But at least now the tourney will not have to be held in two countries. But man, that Qadaffi is ...

   Apr-25-04 Schlechter vs J Mieses, 1909 (replies)

matein8: Ahh, I noticed a typo in my first line, it should be 25. QxN, not QxR. <euripides> I'm not sure that your Q-sac works. In your line above: 26...Rxd1 27. QxRd1.

Apr-22-04 Kasparov vs Topalov, 1999 (replies)

matein8: <Benjamin> This game was played at Wijk aan Zee 1999, not Linares.
