Jan-06-23  stone free or die: My default view of the V Mamoshin vs V Kolker, 1972 game is for non-annotated score.

Is there a setting in a user's profile options for that?

But yes, LTJ is right, the annotated version still shows 43...Rf6?

MissScarlett: < Why is it still showing 43...Rf6?>

The issue has been raised before. The annotated score doesn't update and can't simply be deleted and done anew. It's above my pay grade (that being zero).

Jan-06-23  LoveThatJoker: <MissScarlett> Getting to the heart of the matter, and for the overall improvement of the chessgames.com experience, can you please correct the computer annotated version?

It is important for all users such as myself, whose default setting is the computer annotated one.

MissScarlett: It can't be edited or deleted. Take it up with the tech boys.
Jan-06-23  LoveThatJoker: <MissScarlett> You posted as I was writing my last note. I guess the solution is to delete this version of the game, and upload it from scratch again with the corrected score from the ?very outset.

Otherwise, the impact and best experience of the game will be lost for those users, such as myself, whose default setting is the computer annotated one.

Jan-06-23  LoveThatJoker: Can you not take it up with tech? If not, how do I take it up with them?

MissScarlett: In your member profile, you can edit preferences - untick < Show computer annotations when available.>
Jan-06-23  LoveThatJoker: No, how do we get Tech to correct the game for both the original and computer annotated versions?
Jan-06-23
Premium Chessgames Member
MissScarlett: Understood, but I'm just advising that you can adjust your defaults. I suppose the large majority of members don't automatically see the annotated scores.

The chessgames.com chessforum is your destination.

Jan-06-23  LoveThatJoker: So you are saying that to correct this game properly, I should simply post on the Chessgames chessforum, and that someone in the technical department will possibly act on this?

MissScarlett: Well, there are two separate issues.

Correcting the annotated score of this particular game. The score itself can't be manually corrected as with a simple PGN - it needs to be re-analysed from scratch with the correct score.

A general system change whereby games with annotated scores are flagged for review when the PGN is edited, and making the above process of re-analysis an option for the editors.

Jan-06-23  LoveThatJoker: I just wrote CG's Pete on his forum on the matter, per a fellow CG user's recommendation.

LTJ

Jan-07-23  LoveThatJoker: <MissScarlett> Please furnish <petemcd85> with the corrected version of the PGN.

He can correct this.

I don't have cut and paste, so I cannot do it. Please help!

MissScarlett: It’s been correct since Wednesday.
Jan-07-23  LoveThatJoker: <MissScarlett> To be more specific, can you please copy and paste a corrected version of the game's PGN on petemcd85's forum, so he can re-upload the game correctly?

Please and thank you!

MissScarlett: The PGN is correct; no need for an upload. He just needs to delete the computer annotated score page and run the analysis again.
Jan-07-23  LoveThatJoker: <MissScarlett> Thanks, I will relay that!

MissScarlett: Are you certain that <43...f6> was actually played? Have you seen this game in any source apart from <The Art of the Half-Point>? When was the book published?
Jan-07-23  LoveThatJoker: Apart from "The Art of the Half-Point", the book features as a saved (as in rescued from a lost position) in Van Perlo's Endgame Tactics. Here is the exact link for you (the game in question is in the lower half of the page):

https://books.google.co.il/books?id...

Lastly, the result in the ChessTempo PGN that we obtained the game from is 1/2-1/2.

Based on all these factors it is abundantly clear that the game ends with 43...f6. Had it ended with 43...Rf6, it would have long since featured as an immortal win a la Ortueta vs Sanz - the other game I mentioned to you already. Lastly, note that if White was good enough to find all those astonishing moves to make the drawing position come to fruition, he would have most certainly capitalized on 43...Rf6?? and won the game!

Jan-09-23  LoveThatJoker: Dear <MissScarlett>,

Now that the computer annotated version of V Mamoshin vs V Kolker, 1972 has been corrected, my question for you is...

When will <CG> make this magnificent contest Game of the Day?
