   Aug-31-23 Ljubojevic vs J Bellon Lopez, 1972

varishnakov: Everything wins as usual in these puzzles. I went with e6 but I could just have well played Bc3 or Ba1.

   Aug-30-23 G Fuster vs J Durao, 1958

varishnakov: I also got ...Rxe3. It's so crushing you don't need to look for anything else.

   Aug-29-23 C Moldovan vs A Ushenina, 2005

varishnakov: This one took me an embarrassingly long time to think of the first move. I kept wanting to play ...Bxc4 followed by ...Qd6 and piling on the pinned bishop but it's not an absolute pin so he can play Bxf6 and Rxd8 if I take both his rooks. I also looked at ...Rc5 and ...Qd8. When

Aug-25-23 J Durao vs J Diez del Corral, 1966 (replies)

varishnakov: This one was easier than the previous puzzles because there were no "quiet" moves to find, like the bishop moves in previous puzzles that don't capture anything and aren't checks but close the mating net.

   Aug-23-23 A Vajda vs Kmoch, 1925

varishnakov: My candidates were Bxf6, Rxf6, and Bf7. Then I realized I could play Rxf6 first, followed by Bf7, and White wins, so I managed to solve this one.

Aug-22-23 A Medina Garcia vs Ed. Lasker, 1952 (replies)

varishnakov: In my mind I went with Bd8 instead of Bd1, which I didn't consider. Bd8 still wins, but I should have seen Bd1. Partial credit for me.

   Aug-21-23 G M Norman vs Vidmar, 1925

varishnakov: I got it but it didn't seem as easy as Mondays used to be a long time ago when I was doing chessgames puzzles daily. Then it was almost always a queen sac for mate or material gain. Lately it seems like there are many moves that win in every puzzle.

   Aug-18-23 D H Campora vs P Cramling, 1994

varishnakov: I went with Bxe5 too.

   Aug-17-23 A Miltner vs M Thesing, 2006 (replies)

varishnakov: My choice was 27...Qxc1+ 28.Nxc1 Rxc1+ 29.Kh2 h6 with the unstoppable threat of ...Rdd1. The computer confirms it also wins.

   Aug-15-23 H Spangenberg vs Ftacnik, 1994 (replies)

varishnakov: To me this wasn't easy. There are a lot of candidate moves, and the continuations aren't forcing. I did eventually go with ...Qg3 though.
