   Jul-21-03 Rellstab vs E E Book, 1937 (replies)

rookbj: How come Black castled to the queenside on 13...0-0-0 rather than castle to the kingside at 13...0-0? Is there a danger involved after kingside castling or is the queenside safer?

Jul-10-03 Bird vs Morphy, 1858 (replies)

rookbj: Why did White capture the rook after 23...Rxb4+ with his Queen on 24. Qxb4? He could have just done 24. Kc1 to get out of check and prevent his Queen being traded? What was going on with him?

   Jul-09-03 Mamedyarov vs D Schneider, 2003 (replies)

rookbj: Isn't it mate in two after 10... Kf7 with 11. Bb4 and then 12. Qf8#?

Jul-03-03 E van den Doel vs Stellwagen, 2003 (replies)

rookbj: How come White didn't play 42. Rd7+? That looked like a extremely safe move, or am I overlooking something?

Jun-28-03 Polgar vs Shirov, 1994 (replies)

rookbj: What was the idea of playing Qxd4 to capture a pawn when Black played Nc6 and attacked the Queen?? That's a 1 for 9 deal!!! On White's next move, instead of moving the Queen, he played Bb5, leaving the Queen wide open to a capture. It just doesn't make sense.
