   Jan-17-22 A Bisguier vs Petrosian, 1954
pikket: According to Petrosian's Python Strategy, the idea of Qd8 is to get d-file pressure after 24. f5 ...Ne5! Then if Bxe5 ...dxe5 and the d2 Knight is pinned. Black will get in ...Qd4 with a strong pos. If White doesn't capture on e5, Black's two central Knights give him solid ...
Jan-08-22 Pilnik vs Petrosian, 1952 (replies)
pikket: According to Petrosian's Python Strategy Salo Flohr came to his room to help analyse the adjourned position after 42 Qa8+. They couldn't find a defense: "After a little more perfunctory grumbling, he was about to leave, making the parting remark that such a position *couldn't* be ...
   Jun-16-20 Svidler vs V Malakhov, 1997
pikket: 58. Kxa6 seems to win also. I assume time pressure was a factor. I think these may have been rapid playoffs since first two games between the players were split. But that's speculation.
   Jun-14-20 Svidler vs Morozevich, 1995
pikket: Agree, @Mateo. White seems to be better in all lines. I think Black went wrong earlier.
   Jun-07-20 S Ivanov vs Svidler, 1995
pikket: 18. Bg4 is not a move Ivanov will have been especially proud of.
   Feb-12-19 Kasparov vs K Georgiev, 1988 (replies)
pikket: Thanks for that link alexmagnus - priceless!
Jan-28-09 Kamsky vs Aronian, 2009 (replies)
pikket: Well, certainly after the useless 38.♘h5, White has lost most of his patiently built-up advantage. Perhaps 38. ♘fd5 was a better try.
Jan-09-09 Kasparov vs Smyslov, 1984 (replies)
pikket: Kasparov implies that the whole variation, with 8...♗b4 is difficult for Black, giving 8...♘7b6 as preferable. (OMGP v II, p53.)
Jan-09-09 Kasparov vs Smyslov, 1984 (replies)
pikket: Actually, Kasparov gives Black's 10th move as 'dangerous' (for Black) in his OMGP, vol II. He states, after 16 Bf4, that White has: "the better endgame". So I'm not sure it is correct that Smyslov ever had the advantage in this game.
   Jan-09-09 Euwe vs R P Michell, 1935
pikket: Ouch! Nice rook sac on mv 24. Game mentioned in Kasparov's OMGP, Vol II.
