   Nov-09-07 Levon Aronian (replies)

pacelli: Excuse me. Akopian is the greates living Armenian chessplayer. He stands next to only Petrosian.

   Nov-09-07 Alexander Alekhine (replies)

pacelli: Jeez guys, he wrote those articles with a clear conscience. have you even read the contents? It's the words of a sober mind. It's in his style of writing. It's even in his handwriting. And he was a hateful, self-serving human being. He's 'guilty'. Live with it.

   Nov-09-07 Vasyl Ivanchuk (replies)

pacelli: Ivanchuk was greatness material till he lost to Yusupov in their candidates match in 1991. He was so mentally rocked from that defeat he never recovered, much the same way Gelfand never did after his loss to Karpov in their 95 match. He's only shown sparks of his greatness since ...

   Nov-09-07 Karpov vs S Agdestein, 1984

pacelli: Karpov was probably at his peak in 1984, esp during the first 9 games of his title match with Kasparov. No one could've beaten him then.

Nov-09-07 Tal vs Adianto, 1986 (replies)

pacelli: Well, it IS some weak Asian master from Indonesia. And his opp IS Tal...

Nov-09-07 Kramnik vs Kasparov, 1994 (replies)

pacelli: Only Kasparov can venture to play with the KID at top level chess, and succeed.

   Nov-09-07 Kasparov vs Short, 1994

pacelli: God knows what possessed a positionally subtle player like Short to play the Sicilian. Against Kasparov of all players! Probably Short was so impressed by Kasparov's handling of the black side Sicilian in their match the previous year and dreamed of playing the same way.

Nov-09-07 Fischer vs Petrosian, 1962 (replies)

pacelli: <whatthefat> No. But check out a Ruy Lopez game in the 1990 candidates final match. Think it was Game 1. If Chessgames doesn't have any member comments I'm sure any annotated game of it should.

Nov-08-07 Kasparov vs Korchnoi, 1983 (replies)

pacelli: A younger Korchnoi (say the 1974 Korchnoi) would've beaten Kasparov in 1983.
