matherd1: Beginner's question: What's the point of the 52.Bf3 and 54.Rf1?

matherd1: Anyone who doesn't think Kasparov was one of (not necessarily THE, I've no idea if was more talented, than say Capablanca) the few most naturally gifted players who ever lived is an idiot.

matherd1: Beginner's question: What's wrong with 29.Qb2, protecting both the c3 pawn and preventing checks on e2?

matherd1: Beginner's question: After 26.Bxe6 fxe6 27. Qg4 Ne7 28.Rf8+ why is it won exactly?

Oct-05-10 Karpov vs Kasparov, 1990 (replies)

matherd1: Is this Karpov's last ever win against Kasparov at classical time controls? If so, I wonder if anyone would have guessed it would be at the time? Not that its really a significant stat, given that Karpov's best performance was still to come at Linares 1994. Inded, he probably ...

matherd1: Well, yes of course you COULD get people to follow a whole UK team. And indeed they do in lots of sports already. The point I was making was that having multiple teams from the UK is an attempt to satisfy the feelings about national identity of the people in the various constituent
