   Mar-09-14 Jobava vs D Charochkina, 2014 (replies)

gaviero55: It always happens to me against people 400 points stronger!

Feb-17-14 Jobava vs Dubov, 2014 (replies)

gaviero55: Another really nice game from Jobava! Just at face value 13...b5 seems premature. 15.d4 & 16.Nc5 are effective replies. 29.f4 is surprising, perhaps the N shouldn't be captured? Black's center collapses. Dubov avoids 30...Bg7 because of 31.f5. Fertile play from Jobava again.

Feb-17-14 Kovalenko vs Jobava, 2014 (replies)

gaviero55: I think Black is still for choice after 40.g3 with 40...Qh2.

   Jan-29-14 G Flear vs Vachier-Lagrave, 2014 (replies)

gaviero55: wow, 7...Bb4, is this book? What do the engines say?

   Nov-25-13 Geller vs Polugaevsky, 1954

gaviero55: Draw? Yes, 41...Rh6! and black holds his 3rd rank (42.Qb6 f5). A pretty good game by both.

Nov-19-13 Geller vs Taimanov, 1953 (replies)

gaviero55: Before Planet Ivanchuk there was Planet Geller!

Nov-14-13 Bronstein vs Geller, 1953 (replies)

gaviero55: An example of Soviet conspiracy? There seems to be a lot of play left.

Nov-12-13 Polugaevsky vs Hort, 1981 (replies)

gaviero55: Yes, 14...Bxc5+ improves. It does force 15.Rf2 then 15...Rxh2 breaks in! The rook can't be taken because of Qh4+ and 15...Rxh2 threatens Rh1+, so 16.Nd1 ( if 16.Kf1 then 16...Nxc3 17.Bxc3 Qh4 and if 16.Ne2 then 16...Qh4 ...

   Nov-11-13 J Polgar vs A S Rasmussen, 2013 (replies)

gaviero55: if 37...Re7, then 38.Qg3+ and the N on c6 is now hanging (it took me a while to see that!). Nice play on the h2-b8 diagonal (30.Rg3). As we all know, beware the Queen when she attacks the King!

   Nov-11-13 Morozevich vs B Bogosavljevic, 2013 (replies)

gaviero55: How does White win after 34...g5?
