I wonder if it would be fun to play chess where you can put the pieces you capture back on the board, on your side. Japanese Shogi is like that, but the peices all look the same to me.

erikcu: Yeah, it is one of those moves that when I see it in a game, I think. It can't be that simple, and then I get all clamy looking for the trap.

erikcu: Would you call this 4th and inches? That passed pawn was screaming promote me, White puts up a nice fight though.

erikcu: I have been away from the board for over a month, so this Tuesday puzzle took me a while.

erikcu: I can't say I have ever been disappointed with the puzzles here. I too spent a good while looking for the queen trap, and then gave that up and said to myself, Sac the Queen. Great for a Monday puzzle.

erikcu: <dwojiow: There is a way more spectacular way to win this: 27.Qf6+!> I'll take efficient over spectacular everytime. However I saw 'spectacular' instead of game as played. Spectacular is just more drawn out. I feel like I missed a Monday puzzle.

erikcu: For me this was a lot more straight forward than yesterday's puzzle.
   Nov-10-05 A Zaitsev vs Gipslis, 1969 (replies)
erikcu: This was tough to say the least... I love those replies, that had less of a clue than me, telling the 'obvious' rebuttle to 39. fxe4... especially after crafty posts a 10 ply line explaining. Thanks crafty, that was a tough line for me to see.

erikcu: <I recommand this book: "How to beat your dad in chess" by GM Chandler> I can beat my Dad at chess, however he can do things that I can't, like repair a car engine or design and build a house... I'd trade abilities with him in a minute.
   Nov-07-05 J Murey vs E Mortensen, 1982 (replies)
erikcu: I remember the first time I saw this puzzle here. (or one much like it) I am glad I got it easilly this time. smothered mates although rare are great to keep in mind.

erikcu: Or were there possibilities after 17. That was as far as I calculated for the puzzle..
