   Nov-12-04 S Slipak vs F Braga, 1998 (replies)

chessfected: I was thinking of 29. Rxf6 gf 30. Qxd5 which seems to force 30...Kh8 (otherwise the Queen falls by discovered attack). Then 31.g4 and 32. Qd6 any thoughts?

Sep-26-04 Gheorghiu vs Fischer, 1966 (replies)

chessfected: To me 19.Qb1 was a pretty startling manuever! Then the great plan of placing the R on b2 the B on a3, putting pressure on the Queenside with a view to eventually getting at the King!

Sep-18-04 Vitacek vs Duras, 1900 (replies)

chessfected: 22...Qe3+ 23. Bd2 Nb3+ 24. cb Bxb2+ 25. Kxb2 Rxd2+ 26. Rxd2 (26.Ka1 Qc3mate) Qb3+ 27. Kc1 Rf1+ and mate next

   Sep-01-04 J Arnason vs Dreev, 1990 (replies)

chessfected: Seems like an immediate 19.Bf6 also wins. 19...gf 20. ef Kh8 21. Qh5 or 19...g6 20. Bxc4 and then 21. Qe3 or 21.Qd2

   Jul-26-04 F Beeckmans vs J Renet, 1998 (replies)

chessfected: Gypsy, 30.Qc8+ in your line is not possible, as the black queen is on f8!

Jul-15-04 Morozevich vs Ivanchuk, 1995 (replies)

chessfected: Patzer2, you mean 31...Nc3 32. bc Bd3+ 33. Be2 (forced otherwise 33...Re1+ follows) Rxe2 and there's no answer to the double threat of 34...Re1 mate or 34...Rb2+ netting the rook

Jul-13-04 FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2004) (replies)

chessfected: Kasimdzhanov winning the WC is a bit like Greece winning Euro'04 - written off all the way to the final and in it. And just as that was only Euro '04 and not the World Cup, this is a tournament without K,A,K and L against whom Kasim's true (newfound)strength will be revealed!

   Jul-12-04 Srinivas vs V Ravikumar, 1984 (replies)

chessfected: Perhaps 12.Bd3 would have been better? 12...Qxd3 13. Qxg4 Bb4+ 14. Nc3 Bxc3+ 15. bc Qxc3+ 16. Ke2 and White may be able to hang on. or 12...Bxf3 13. Bxg6 Bxg2 14. Bxh7+ Kxh7 15. Rg1 and Black is better with the two Bishops but still has to work to win.

Jul-07-04 Anand vs Kasimdzhanov, 1999 (replies)

chessfected: pretty finish. Black is more or less toast in the endgame with Queens off - especially because of the backward d-pawn and White's strong knight.

Jul-01-04 Fiske / Fuller / Perrin vs Morphy, 1857 (replies)

chessfected: 22...Bxc2 23.g4 Qg5 24. Nf3 Qg6 25. c5 followed by 26. Ne5 with triple attack on f7, not to mention the Bishop on c2. You're right about the Zugzwang. But I guess exchanging rooks does the job as well.
