   Apr-29-25 M Lagarde vs R Makhmutov, 2012 (replies)

Viennablue: 28. g4 is one of these moves I would never even consider in such a position (after a piece sac). Almost certainly I would have played 28. Rfh4 (leading nowhere). I think the ability to find quiet moves like g4 in dynamic positions is one ingredient to become a great player.

   Feb-09-25 A Dunis vs S Iuldachev, 2006

Viennablue: 22…Rxd7 is tempting and needs to be considered, but leads only to level play (acc to SF). Over the board, after having invested too much time analyzing Rxd7, I probably would have played Rxd7 - with that peculiar hope that I missed something spectacular to my benefit. ...

   Oct-18-24 L Drljevic vs M Manakova, 2001 (replies)

Viennablue: I expected 29.Qe1 - which also leads to mate-in-10.

Sep-13-24 A Mendez Machado vs Aronian, 2024 (replies)

Viennablue: What ghosts did White see after the obvious and simple 17.cxd4?

   Jul-05-24 S Vega Gutierrez vs T Hoang, 2016 (replies)

Viennablue: Maybe we are supposed to find that the black Q is in need of spare fields. Something that can be achieved by 21…b6 or b5. But anyhow: a strange puzzle situation

   Apr-20-24 N Nguyen vs M Kanep, 2010 (replies)

Viennablue: Hard to say why black didn‘t play 34…Nxd4. SF evaluates this a mere +0.48 for White.

   Feb-16-24 Tal vs P Kampenuss, 1953 (replies)

Viennablue: Sure as hell I would have played 30.Rxd7+ without much thinking

   Jan-20-24 Benko vs J P Dominguez Sanz, 1972 (replies)

Viennablue: In Europe, this pun might ring another bell of a sinking Benko: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren...

   Jan-06-24 V Kovalev vs T Nabaty, 2011 (replies)

Viennablue: I sympathized with Black for having the balls to play 9…Bxg4.

   Dec-25-23 P Leisebein vs M Rohde, 2000 (replies)

Viennablue: @allderdice83: After your line 13. Bxf6? gxf6 14. Rxf6?? Qxb2 15. Raf1 Qxc3, White mates in 6, starting with 16. Rxf7. But if black plays 15… gxf6 first, then White’s advantage really dwindles after 16.Qxf6 Rf8 .
