Sep-17-13 Eljanov vs Karjakin, 2013 (replies)

PromoteToKing: Great attack from Elijanov, the Queen and Knight posted on g5/h6 respectively almost seems like an amateurish attempt for a mate. However Karjakin did not see the threats that would come about with 21. Bd5 where 22. Qxg6+ will soon follow.

Sep-17-13 Le Quang Liem vs Grischuk, 2013 (replies)

PromoteToKing: Nice endgame play from both. Black prevent's White from trading rooks, while White keeps his Rook very active, harassing the Black King. @ Sastre, that would've been an exciting way to force the draw

   Sep-17-13 Dreev vs D Andreikin, 2013 (replies)

PromoteToKing: Great play from Andreikin, utilizing the strength of his Rooks & Bishop to totally hamper the White Queen's mobility, while creating a deadly attack on the K side. Notice how White's Rook only moved one time during the entire game (2 if you count castling).

   Sep-07-13 A Korobov vs Jobava, 2013

PromoteToKing: Surely this endgame shouldn't have turned out like this. Despite having 4P to White's 5P, Black being the exchange up, should certainly win this game.

   Sep-05-13 Mamedyarov vs M Matlakov, 2013

PromoteToKing: Another fierce attack for Mamedyarov. With both bishops staring down the king's position at move 8, you can tell he has something sinister prepared.

Sep-04-13 Eljanov vs Jakovenko, 2013 (replies)

PromoteToKing: Lovely endgame play from Elijanov. Very instructive lesson on how to consolidate slowly consolidate your pieces when faced by a harassing queen

   Aug-30-13 I Popov vs M Ragger, 2013 (replies)

PromoteToKing: 2 losses aren't better than 1 loss 2 injuries aren't better than 1 injury 2 blunders aren't better than 1 blunder.

   Aug-30-13 P Darini vs D Andreikin, 2013 (replies)

PromoteToKing: After 45. Rd2 will follow 45...Re1+ 46. Kg2 47. Rg1+ and Black wins the Queen.

   Aug-29-13 Y Hou vs Shirov, 2013

PromoteToKing: Also in addition to Karpova's variation, it's also important to note that in the case of 38. Rxf5 which seems to renew the threat of perpetual check, black will continue with 38...Qxf2+ 39. Kh3 (avoiding any checks for the moment) and now instead of 39...gxf5?? allowing ...

   Aug-21-13 Kramnik vs G Bwalya, 2013

PromoteToKing: Hello, Isilimela. In the final position, Kramnik's advantadge is overwhelming. Some ways the game might end if black were to continue would be: A) 31...Nh5(to try and trade rooks and create some sort of space for future maneuvers) 32. Nf7+ Rxf7 and white should win easily ...
