Grew up in Israel reaching a rating of 2100 (used to called Master Candidate + +). I live in the US since 1979. I won the 1976-77 Israeli correspondence championship while already in America. Never played any tournament game for the last 40 years. My favorite players were Botvinnik and Tal. Presently I like Alpha Zero as it plays like Morphy. For years I have been constantly losing to the iPad version of Stockfish. I can recognize the style when casual chess with friends players secretly use it against me.

Sep-11-21 J D Ruiz Castillo vs Remulo Aguiar Freitas, 2014

MightyTal: In Andersen’s opening 1)a3 black’s trying to play the Scotch runs into white’s Qh5 which is powerful.

   Aug-15-21 Saemisch vs Nimzowitsch, 1923

MightyTal: Why resigning? Why not giving back a piece for a pawn, say Nc3?!

   Aug-11-19 J Saksis vs Shirov, 1985

MightyTal: Stockfish says that the position after 40....Bc3 is drawn. On 38. Rc1 the correct response is 38....Rd2 mating in 20. No need to resign so soon.

   Jul-22-19 So vs Karjakin, 2019

MightyTal: Thanks all for rightly dispelling my earlier enthusiasm . No fuss.
